Remembering ‘The Monkees’ Davy Jones

In recent weeks, fans of the music community have been hit hard. Whitney Houston died earlier this month, and now Davy Jones. I am on the younger side of the spectrum to be a fan, but I was one nonetheless.

Growing up, we listened to the “oldies.” My sister and I learned to like the songs and “Daydream Believer” happened to be one of my all time favorites.

I will also fondly remember his appearance on “The Brady Bunch.” That was one of my favorite episodes ever.

‘Dancing with the Stars’ Cast Announced Today

After a waiting a few months for the announcement of the next set of celebrity dancers, this morning they were finally announced. I must admit, I am less than pleased with the outcome. There are very few “known” celebrities and many semi-known or completely unknown. One dancer I am particularly excited to see is Steve Urkel. I mean, Jaleel White. I grew up in the 90s, don’t judge me! The other names I recognize are Sherri Shepherd and Maria Menounos. I do watch a lot of daytime television, so these two ladies are well-known to me.

I am disappointed that not many more of the rumors came true for the cast. I was slightly hoping that Kris Jenner would appear. I have a sick obsession with the Kardashians. I love to hate them, and I can’t get enough. I also enjoyed the political rumors surrounding the candidates that were asked to appear on the show. Come on people, Herman can’t stay faithful to ONE woman, how can he commit to ONE show? Pfft! Totally disgusting morals and sooo glad he dropped out of the race!

Paula Deen was rumored to be appearing on Season 14, but there was no truth to that at all. I would have rooted for her. I like the woman, without or without the diabetes announcement. So much uproar over something that is none of our business. Geezus people, grow the eff up and let the woman eat what she wants!!!

Here is a complete list of the new Season 14 cast

Gladys Knight + Tristan MacManus

Melissa Gilbert + Maksim Chmerkovskiy

Jack Wagner + Anna Trebunskaya

Gavin DeGraw + Karina Smirnoff

Donald Driver + Peta Murgatroyd

Roshon Fegan + Chelsie Hightower

Katherine Jenkins + Mark Ballas

William Levy + Cheryl Burke

Maria Menounos + Derek Hough

Martina Navratilova +  Tony Dovolani

Sherri Shepherd + Val Chmerkovskiy

Jaleel White +  Kym Johnson

Ben ‘The Bachelor’ Sends Nicki Home

After watching the entire season of “The Bachelor,” I am less inclined to want to watch again. There was something about this whole Ben thing that really drove me nuts. Like I said in a previous post, I know who he chooses already so I am merely watching for the drama. I am eagerly anticipating the Women Tell All, especially after Courtney talked about her remorse during tonight’s taping. I am not surprised he sent Nicki home, but I think that leading her on and allowing her to tell him she loved him was a little much. Come on Ben! You knew you were not going to pick her and yet, you chose the overnight. Is getting laid really that big of a deal?! *Sigh*

I am also not looking forward to “The Bachelorette” either. Emily Maynard has been completely overdone, and I would much rather watch Emily O’Brien or Kacie B do the show. Tonight we got a glimpse into the process of getting Emily ready for the show. She got to hang out with Ali and Ashley. It was nice to see them again. I was a big Ashley fan and I was really happy that she chose JP.  I wish them all the best, and I am hoping their wedding will be televised!

Remembering Robin Scorpio On ‘General Hospital’

If you have watched “General Hospital” over the last 20 years or so, you will know who Robin Scorpio is. Fans watched Kimberly McCullough grow up on the show and her identity became synonymous with her character, Robin Scorpio. There have been so many memorable moments throughout her on again/off again career on the show. I have many fond memories of Robin on the show and I am going to be sharing them with you here. I have been a fan of the show for as long as I can remember. These are my favorite Robin moments from “General Hospital” –

Some of the best scenes from the show were done at Jake’s. In July of 2009, they did a lot of Karaoke scenes with the actors. Patrick and Robin sang “I Had the Time of My Life” and it is STILL one of my all time favorites.

Of course there were other moments that stand out in my mind, especially those of Robin and Stone. She loved him immensely and watched him die. She worked her entire life to help find a cure for HIV, and died before her research was completed. It was a complete travesty.

There were many other moments like the birth of Emma, Robin’s wedding to Patrick, and the relationship between the two of them that stand out in my mind. Kimberly McCullough has been such a huge part of my experience with “General Hospital.” It is going to be hard to watch the upcoming week of shows, especially when Robert shows up.

Oscar Sunday

It is that time of year again. The biggest stars in Hollywood are preparing to walk the red carpet, and people everywhere are talking about who will win the biggest prizes. This year there are so many great movies nominated. I am anxious to see what everyone is wearing and who will win the coveted awards. I am not much of a movie fan honestly. I would rather watch the Emmy Awards and see my favorite television stars walk the red carpet. I am going to watch the awards anyway, especially since not much else will be airing against them.

Brad Pitt and his homewrecker, Angelina Jolie, will be at the awards. “Moneyball” is one of the most talked about movies, and Pitt is up for the Best Actor award. In fact, he is up against his buddy, George Clooney. I am rooting for George though. I still can’t believe how bogus was to Jennifer Aniston. Gah! That shit still pisses me off how many years later? Yeah. I am one of the bitter Jen fans.

Fashion tonight is iffy. I am sure there will be wonderful dresses, but there will definitely be fails as well. I am more interested in the fails and fashion blunders than the actual hits. I am going to check in with Perez Hilton and see what he is saying about who. Should make for an interesting night on Twitter!

I am curious about what you think about the Oscar celebrations. Are you into the whole thing, or do you just watch out of habit? Which movie are you rooting for?

Hope you all enjoyed your weekend! Tomorrow is back to the daily grind around here, and I am not ready for it!
